  2. Clear Navigation. Once a visitor finds your web site you need to encourage them go through your site. To do this you need to have clear navigation with all the important links in a prominent places. Preferably on top - that is where most visitor will look first. You never know what a visitor may be interested in, so make your information be accessible from all parts of the site
  3. Check for broken links - Always check for broken links on a site before uploading it to your web server
  4. Minimise the Use of Images - simple designs are the most effective for the web. Keep your site simple but neat. Visitors are usually more interested in content than in design. Do not clutter your page with big, bulky images that take ages to load
  5. Use white space - Remember, try not to clutter up your page with too many images, backgrounds and colorful fonts. Use the KIS (Keep It Simple) principle by minimising the use of graphics and using a lot of white space. White space gives a sense of neatness and spaciousness, overall to a web site
  6. Design in percentage not pixels - Computers today come with all kinds of resolution. Your task is to design your site for resolutions that range from 640 x 480 to 1024 x 768 and even higher. So design your site in terms of percentages not pixels
  7. Browser compatibility - Make sure your site is browser compatible. Do not stop designing your site as soon as you find that it looks great on IE. Netscape often gives some problems, especially with complicated HTML designs. Be patient, these problems can be fixed
  8. Use readable and professional looking fonts - Just by looking at the font you often feel that the web site site is not professional. Do not use Comic Sans and other fancy fonts that may not be available on your visitors computers. If the font is not available in a visitors computer the web site will use the default font
